Philly B.

Born Phillip (Phil) Baca in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 5, 1978. Phil’s fascination with music began at an early age. Self-taught, Phil spent many of his high school days learning the piano, taking advantage of his ear for music. Since the age of 17, Phil was privileged to experience and appreciate an array of music, playing with bands ranging from funk, R&B, Latin rock and traditional New Mexican. It was the passion and desire that drew Phil to create and perform his own music.
Philly B’s long road has delivered his debut album titled, "Hard to Come By." This album’s captivating sound comes from the powerful chemistry of Philly B and his brother and co-producer, Julian Baca (a.k.a. Wholee). For the last seven years, both brothers have been polishing their craft in the studio and have become seasoned music producers, creating their own sound. In 2007, Phil and Julian began their own production company, Baca Beat Company LLC. Philly B’s first single, "Que Bonita," featuring King Montana and the Butcha, went national. It’s hip and catchy sound caught the ears of everyone that heard it. It received radio play on the nationally syndicated Latin Hip Hop show, "Pocos Pero Locos." It also won the New Mexico Hispano Entertainers' Association award for Latin Hip Hop, Latin Rap, Reggaeton song of the year for 2006. Several of Philly B’s songs have also been played on rotation in his hometown. Philly B has opened up for numerous national artists, including the world-famous reggae group, the Wailers, hip hop and R&B singer, Akon, Pop artist, Frankie J, and Rap artist, Baby Bash.
Philly B’s "Hard to Come By" can be described as a "must-have" album. Once you listen to it, you won’t stop listening to it.
