HISTORY (full band – east coast only):
The last three years have been amazing for Pete Richard and the Pete Richard Band, and 2009 seems to be no different. Pete, either solo or with the band, played WELL over 250 shows and toured the USA! All without professional booking or management. Pete and the Pete Richard Band continue to gain fans and momentum, coast to coast.

Although, Pete has been playing and writing music since age 13, he began focusing his efforts on a solo project in March of 2005. Pete began playing open mics and booking solo shows in the Boston area. Time flew by and Pete gained a reputation of being one of Boston’s most sought after singer/songwriters. Only a couple of years have passed since Pete began this musical journey, and since then, out of the blue, one of Boston’s most talented bands has developed. Although the line-up might vary from one show to another, Pete considers his "regulars" to be a "true gift." Pete’s velvety vocals and acoustic guitar combine harmoniously with Steve Benson’s (mandolin/lap steel guitar) incomparable sound, while Jon Sperring’s (bass) solid low end, and brother David Sperring’s (drums) most unique percussion skills develop into a stellar and very unique homogenous sound. Add in the beautiful, Julia Cook and Erica Marshall (backing vocals), and you’ve got one hell of a live experience.

Pete’s first release, Union Street Sessions (2007), exhibits his songwriting diversity, and also establishes Pete as both the front man and the solo artist. This mature and honest collection has literally sold itself, with thousands of copies in the hands of fans. The sound and the line up are truly original and the package completely reflects the grassroots effort.

The energy from the stage and the sound that hits the ears has made the live show a not-to-be-missed event. There is no show on earth like Pete Richard. Solo, as well as with the band, the performances take on a personality of their own. Fun, relatable, danceable, and different are guarantees of both the live show, and the tunes themselves. All respect due, you’ll have to move under a rock to avoid hearing Pete Richard in the not-so-distant future!

CURRENT (west coast only):
August 2008, Pete Richard and singer, Julia Audrey, relocated to Southern California to work on various ongoing projects and also spread the vibe west! As of October, they have been playing open-mics and booking full shows over the South Bay area. Their continued success, as an acoustic duo, is a testament to what Pete and his crew are capable of accomplishing. The band remains loyal on the east coast, and tour dates are currently being planned for a short northeast holiday tour and a similar repeat in late spring 2009…

His humbleness and sincerity show through in his music. His performances and songwriting get better and better everytime we play a show together (which has been a few times now) and Pete is certainly one of the coolest cats I know.”
-guitar legend, Fuzz (Deep Banana Blackout/Rolla/Tom-Tom Club)
