It's not about making money. It's not about the "perks". As cliche as it sounds, it's solely about making fun, lasting music.

Started by Nate Castle and Tom Torrento, PBM began its journey inside the halls of Cousino High School in Warren, MI. With each and every show, the band started to gain local recognition with their quirky, horn-infused rock, sarcastic lyrics, and unmistakable vocal harmonies—not to mention their hard work ethic.

In the beginning, the band's sound reflected the genre de'jour: ska. Influenced by bands like Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Squirel Nut Zippers, et. al. However, with new members brining different musical backgrounds to the group, the bands sound quickly morphed from a one-dimensional ska sound to a mix of rock, pop, jazz, blues and swing. The band's name changed from Peanut Butter Mosquitos to PBM (Poor Boy Music)

Over the years, the band's music connected to people all over the world as their songs appeared on compilations distributed by indie records labels RawFish Records, LittleGiants Records, and Honey Records. These compilations were sold in Germany, England, Japan and France. PBM's second album, One Sip At A Time, was released and distributed nationally in 2006.

They appeared on NBC's first season of America's Got Talent, and made it to the semi-finals. PBM has played shows in more than 40 states and toured internationally. After a 2 year hiatus, the band reunited in 2009 and is working on making new music and infecting the Detroit music scene once again. This story is not over.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT US.

"PBM are amazing live! Go and see them, but prepare to be INFECTED!" --Raw Fish Records, UK

"PBM puts on a damn good show! They have the stage presence of U2 and the musicianship of the Rolling Stones!"--Sergei Fedorov, NHL superstar, former Detroit Red Wing

"These guys can ROCK! They will break and break big!"--Kenny Olson, guitarist for Kid Rock and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band

"This lot deserves a record deal! Go and see them live."--Honey Records, UK

"If Ska needed a swift kick in the arse, the end result might sound something like PBM (aka Poor Boy Music). They've rejuvenated the wilting art of incorporating a massive horn section in their Rock tirades. They highly impressed many at SXSW so, as a warning, hold on lest you get blown away too."--Cincinnati City Beat, 2005

"PBM’s ability to work a crowd was dazzling. That might have something to do with the fact they’ve had the better part of 7 years to become a cohesive unit. Remarkably, while there were a great deal of high school students peppering the horde of people packed into the small, smoke-filled concert venue, there was an impressive number of adults enjoying the sounds of these 7 guys, also."--Cupacino Standing Room Only Review
