In usual manner the Swiss and electoral inhabitant of Hamburg serves songs between pop and rock which are almost improved by his pleasant warm voice which has become even more powerful in the course of the time. Although it has remained all years about loyal to his musical line, becomes clear that from the smart teenage dream an adult man has become. Private changes like the marriage with the American Molly Schade and the birth of there daughter in June, 2006, let Patrick Nuo mature as the 24-year-old himself expresses: What I find extremely nice, is able to grow together. Drei Buchstaben stehen für das dritte Albumwerk von Patrick Nuo: Schlicht "Nuo" lautet der Titel und treffender kann nicht ausgedrückt werden, was den Hörer auf diesem Album erwartet. In gewohnter Manier wartet der Schweizer und Wahl-Hamburger mit Songs zwischen Pop und Rock auf, die durch seine angenehme warme Stimme, die im Laufe der Zeit noch kraftvoller geworden ist, geradezu veredelt werden. Wenngleich er seiner musikalischen Linie all die Jahre über treu geblieben ist, wird deutlich, dass aus dem smarten Teenie-Schwarm ein erwachsener Mann geworden ist. Private Veränderungen, wie die Heirat mit der Amerikanerin Molly Schade und die Geburt der gemeinsamen Tochter im Juni 2006 haben Patrick Nuo reifen lassen, wie der 24jährige selbst zum Ausdruck bringt: "Was ich extrem schön finde ist, gemeinsam wachsen zu können. Die Ehe hat dazu beigetragen, dass ich viel stärker liebe und auch die Liebe, die mir entgegengebracht wird, intensiver empfinde".
Diese emotionale Tiefe und gewonnene Reife hört man Patrick Nuo in seinen neuen Songs an. Sein privates Glück und die Verarbeitung vergangener wie aktueller persönlicher Erfahrungen, haben ihm zu einer künstlerischen Freiheit verholfen, mit der er mutig und selbstsicher die gesamte Klaviatur seiner Gefühle auslebt und zu ihnen steht. Kontrastreiche Titel, gefüllt mit einer großen Bandbreite von starken Emotionen, prägen das Album.
Mitreißend gefühlvoll besingt Nuo die tiefempfundene Liebe in den Balladen wie "Love" und "Finally", unterstützt durch Piano und Streicherarrangements, die eigens dafür mit einem Sinfonieorchester aufgenommen wurden. "Celebrate Youth", ein frischer Sommersong, entsprungen aus der überschwänglichen Freude heraus Vater zu werden, feiert die Leichtigkeit des Seins. Patrick versprüht darin pure Lebensfreude und appelliert an das Beibehalten des Kindes in sich. Absolut authentisch ist auch der Song "Watchin´ Over You", der bereits 2006 als Single veröffentlicht wurde und den Patrick Nuo als Ausdruck seiner wachsenden Spiritualität sieht. "All the time there is a guidin´ light," wie es dort im Text heißt, beschreibt die beschützende unsichtbare Kraft, die uns Menschen ständig begleitet. Ähnlich tiefgründig wird es in "What Am I Gonna Do?".
Eine komplett neue Facette von Patrick Nuo entdeckt man in dem frechen, fast schon aggressiven Titel "Too Late (To Save It With A Love Song)". Selbstbewusst redet er Klartext, indem er einer alten Liebe eine klare Absage erteilt. Dieser Song über ein längst vergangenes Erlebnis, bringt Patrick Nuos neu gewonnene Gelassenheit gegenüber den Tatsachen des Lebens zum Ausdruck: "Ich habe gelernt, bestimmte Gegebenheiten einfach zu akzeptieren und den Blick nach Vorne zu richten. Was vorbei ist, ist vorbei. Das Leben geht weiter und hält neue Überraschungen bereit".
Ausklang des Albums bildet der Song "Winter Sleep", mit dem Patrick Nuo nach einer extrovertierten Lebensphase, zu sich zurückfindet, um sich auf das Wesentliche zu besinnen.
Auch musikalisch ist Patrick Nuo freier und experimentierfreudiger geworden.
"You And I" zum Beispiel überrascht mit einem langen überleitenden Intro, zu dem wenige Musiker den Mut hätten, welches aber dem Hörer ein unverhofftes Klangerlebnis verschafft und dadurch das Album besonders macht. Als Hommage an frühere Nuo-Longplayer kann "One Way Ticket To Haze" gewertet werden, ein Zeichen dafür, dass Patrick Nuo trotz aller Veränderungen seine musikalische Vergangenheit nicht verleugnet.
Natürlich dürfen Gitarrenklänge auf einem Nuo-Album nicht zu kurz kommen, erst recht nicht wenn sie, wie schon bei den Vorgänger-Alben, auf die kompetente Unterstützung der Gitarristen Dominik Decker und sogar David Jost selbst zurückzuführen sind, wie unter anderem auf dem schon erwähnten saitenstarken Titel Too Late (To Save It With A Love Song). Bereits 2003, als Patrick Nuo mit dem Album-Debüt "Welcome" seine Musikkarriere startete, legte er seine musikalische Ausrichtung fest. Seine Leidenschaft für rockige Klänge fruchtete in der bis heute bewährten und erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit mit dem Produzenten- und Songwriterteam David Jost und Dave Roth, die Nuo erfolgreiche Hits wie "5 Days" oder "Reanimate" bescherte. Auch das zweite Album "Superglue" mit Singles wie "Beautiful" schloss mühelos an diese Erfolge an.
