Hey, I'm Patrick James.

I'm a songwriter from Batavia, Illinois, a suburb west of Chicago. I'm addicted to all things songwriting. I write Country, Pop, and Rock music. But, I'm a country boy at heart. I'm in the midst of a recording project, Still Life, that is focused on recording my portfolio of songs. Currently, I'm trying to market 50 finished works, and adding new pieces constantly. I’ve played Bass throughout my 15 years of musical development, also double on Vocals, Guitar, Keys, and Drums.

Waveform Audio

Musically I have benefited immensely from Waveform Audio, a project studio I started about 6 years ago. I have been involved with the engineering, and production of a wide range of styles of music, including rock, jazz, acoustic, country, blues, and contemporary Christian. Waveform Audio offers a diverse range of music services including recording, production, CD design and duplication, live sound and lights, and live bands.

I’ve had the pleasure of facilitating bands, duo’s, and solo artists while writing, and performing. I've gotta say, it feels really healthy to finally record and produce all this music of mine, though. I've loved working with others, but I've got way too much to say! The future of Waveform Audio is bright! I plan to continue expanding it's physical space, currently two very well isolated and acoustically treated rooms, as well as our recording, and live show production capabilities.

The technology at Waveform Audio is focused on the latest Cubase 24bit, 96khz recording software, with a Pro Tools rig in the near future. I'll be placing a gear list up soon. But, the not so short version includes SWR, Hartke, and Bag End Bass Rigs, Vox, Line 6, Roland, Peavey, Vintage Fender Guitar Amps, Line 6 POD's, Gretch Catalina Drums, Zildjian and Sabian Cymbals, Kurzweil, Yahmaha, and M Audio Keyboards, and a Vintage '77 Fender Rhodes. The center of the room is based around a Mackie 8 bus, Presonus Firepods, Presonus compression, custom White Eq's, Aphex parametrics, Alesis, Waves, Universal Audio and TC Electronics effects, and Hafler or Grund Audio monitors. Shure, Sennheiser, ADK, Octava, AKG, Rode, and Audio Technica mics capture the magic.

We also have a huge guitar, and bass selection that includes a Gibson Les Paul, a Vintage Gibson Victory, Fender Strats, 2 Tele's, a Yamaha Pacifica, Epiphone Dot, a Brian Moore, a Danelectro, a Taylor 510 acoustic, a Vintage 50's Martin, Fender Cali Custom PJ bass, 2 Custom Carvin 6-string basses, Custom Fretless Ibanez 5 string, and a Cort acoustic bass.

Gear junkie, yah, you could say so.

Education, Director of Music

While at Batvia High School I was accepted into the Illinois All-State music program twice for Honors Jazz Bass, and once for Honors Choir. I began my college education with a 50% scholorship at Northern Illinois University, following a music performance track. I was grateful for the opportunity, but this wasn't the right program. I completed an A.S. in Business Management in Fine Arts at Waubonsee Community College in 2004 while developing Waveform Audio.

But my true life leadership and management skills have developed over the last 10 years while working as the Director of Music at Rejoice Lutheran Church, a contemporary church west of Chicago. While I've been involved at Rejoice, I've been blessed to see the group grow from 3 people, to over 30 people. Our music is all modern acoustic, and rock worship songs. I cannot say enough about what these folks mean to me! They are inspiring in their hope, love, and faith.

The Future, Music Publishing

Don't get me wrong. I love my studio, and my band at Rejoice. But, I aspire to be a published songwriter. Music, and Lyrics are my passion. I feed on original lyric ideas set to singable melodies. Oh yah, and I feed on rediculous huge amount of Caffiene. Go figure.

My muse is forever writing. I can't sleep, because I write. When I'm awake, which is most of the time, I can't focus, because I write. I will hear my first song hit the airwaves on the lips of a major label artist. But, I can't do it without you. Without your support, love, comments, plays, respect, and advice I can't pursue my dream. So, I Thank you in advance for helping me become the songwriter I can be. Your inspiration guides me on this long, well traveled road.

Thank you for checkin' out me, and my music!

Please add me!Message me too, I'd love to hear from you!Peace.
