According to Baltimore’s PX (Parts Unknown), “Hood Therapy” is “just what the doctor ordered.” Released in 2006 as the follow up to their widely popular 2002 release “Everybody Wanna Know”, “Hood Therapy” is more of a senior prom than a sophomore jinx. And although “Everybody Wanna Know” served its purpose of introducing the PX brand of hip-hop to the world, it was more of an EP than an LP.

Over a year later and PX is still riding the wave of success that came along with “Everybody Wanna Know”. Radio instantly took to PX’s interpolation of the Biggie/Jay Z classic collaboration “Brooklyn’s Finest” appropriately titled “BMore’s Finest”. Labels began buzzing about PX and they found themselves in meetings with a few majors but something was still missing. Could they create their own path without following the traditional “fork in the road” formula – MAINSTREAM or UNDERGROUND?

“Urban Blues” is how PX came to define its sound. It is honesty without embellishment. It is reality with tangible boundaries. It is personal sacrifice without moral compromise. “Hood Therapy” is the soundtrack to urban life. With songs like “I Don’t Know”, “World on my Shoulders”, and “Nuthin” PX demonstrates the fragile existence of humanity – encompassing guilt, remorse, introspection and redemption. On the flipside songs like “Only Friends”, “PX Blues”, and “Make U Famous” reflect upon the ages old conflict of man vs. woman and offers a few resolutions for listeners.

Since 2001 PX has been unafraid to remain themselves. Their musical honesty has garnered them worldwide fans and worldwide promoters that understand that the PX live show is the physical embodiment of their unique sound. It has also landed them sponsorship opportunities with Sedgwick and Cedar (www.sedgwickandcedar.com) and Dekline (www.dekline.com). Shows are in the works and will be strung together to create a huge tour beginning Spring 2007 where they will once again grace the stages of beautiful China. All the while “Hood Therapy” continues to be a steady seller at numerous retail outlets (FYE, Sam Goody) and online music sources. Even radio has shown consistent growth since the Man Parrish inspired “Its Yours” began hitting clubs and mixtapes last Fall.
