Cowan Music Group was given life by Pantha…

At 14 Pantha began a musical journey, writing lyrics to embryonic melodies and used the tarmac stage of the playground to try out his creations at every given chance. Hip Hop became a defining juncture and hungry for answers Pantha began dissecting instrumentals, discovering techniques to improve his own creations. Teaching himself keyboards led Pantha to producing his own material, rushing home from school every evening to give life to ideas crowding his day.

Pantha’s 16th year proved to be instrumental in his musical growth. After learning keyboards a few years earlier he decided to try his hand at guitar, reproducing soulful textures reminiscent of musical greats that influenced him. The guitar then gave Pantha a curious hunger pick up the bass guitar in his quest to become a one-man band. Then, forever the explorer Pantha, using savings from his Saturday job, he bought himself a drum kit and started to teach himself, thus quenching his instrumental thirst, for now.

Pantha’s creations are steeped in his influences including Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Radiohead, Beethoven, Black Sabbath the list goes on. Proclaimed the hardest working young producer of his generation by his peers (he has been working at least 18hrs a day for the last 5 years), Pantha’s aim is to produce music that will last a lifetime.

Currently Pantha is giving back to the community that nurtured his music growth by working with young people in his area with charity Rising Tide. He is also worked with MOBO award-winning artist ‘Akala’ on a project titled ‘The Hip Hop Shakespeare’,. Pantha has also recently re-produced a track for EMI-signed artist ‘Mpho Skeef’

The future?

‘Building CMG and working with artists who truly understand their art and are prepared to explore its’ boundaries and beyond.’
