Overcast: To over cloud, darken, or make gloomy: Ominous clouds began to overcast the sky.
This is how we sometimes feel in life. Some days it may seem like all hope is lost and maybe we should not even get out of bed. Just living can be a hard thing for anyone in the world. Living with fears, pain, brokenness, addictions, loneliness and abuse. The clouds do roll in and things can get dark.
The goal and passion set out for this band is to be a light in the dark places of life. We are not here to judge, look down upon or tell others how bad they are and how they should live. We are here simply to "Love". The faith based lyrics written by Rob show reality and offer hope in the end.
Rob began this vision in late 2006 in the Portland area. He quickly found musicians with the same direction he had and the next year was spent recording a quality demo cd and playing shows every weekend. In late 2007 Rob moved the band to the Seattle area. He began rebuilding and found some new members. After many shows, a professional debut cd recorded in 2009 and some new members OverKast is ready to blaze through the Seattle area and build a solid fanbase. With a sound they label Melodern (Melodic-Modern) hard rock they take the stage with a fire and passion few have.
Brandon knew Rob from Portland so once he moved and saw there was a need for a new guitar player he jumped right in. Bryan has been hitting the local scene for 8 years now with his last band Slack Tide Soul before coming on board with OverKast. He brings a different style to the band but it was a much needed change.
John came from the Chicago rock scence and brought a lead ability that OverKast has not had in a long while. With his addition it allowed Rob to get off the guitars live and concentrate on being a frontman again. And finally the newest member Stephen. He brings years of touring and experience to the bass position. Not to mention the other instruments he plays. Steve is also the producer for our new album! Now with so many different influences and elements the band is set to bring out their new music and gather a fanbase country wide.
We are all in this together as one & we are no better than anyone else in any way. There is a truth in the statement "Passion Breeds Followers" and we know people who come to the shows will see that with no doubt. We believe that no matter how dark things may seem, or how little money or popularity you may have, no matter how different you may be or how far down you may seem, Hope Always Remains!
