Ouck Da Big Baby--born David Roman on July 7, 1987 in Harlem, New York--is an international, diverse and versatile metropolitan artist originating from the birth state of hip hop. Coming from an Hispanic father of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent and an African American mother from North Carolina, Ouck Da Big Baby has always had the musical culture and inclination to create musical art in both Spanish and English since birth. His diverse musical repertoire encompasses hard and raw lyrics for the streets, catchy and commercial sounds for the masses, and smooth, enchanting songs for the ladies.
Using music, poetry and artistry as a portal for his personal expression, "Big Baby" developed a unique confidence and independence as a result of moving around constantly in and out of the foster care system from a very young age. Although his roots are in New York, he has resided in neighborhoods of North Carolina, where he still his familiar ties, and is currently stationed in Marietta, Atlanta.
Beginning in Junior High School, Big Baby would utilize his 'book and street smarts' to create modern poetry, express his voice on stage in talent shows and plays, and even compose music for the school drill team. His creativity, however, was not enclosed within the walls of education. Big Baby also became more of an active freestyler and beatboxer as well in the streets of the Bronx, where he came into contact with the members of his first musical group, S.P. or "Straight Paper".
In moving to Queens to attend High School, Big Baby began to envision his interest in music as an actual hobby that he could dedicate a great effort to and began recording his music through whichever method possible. He recalls:
"I remember how I used to tie up a laptop to hang from the rod in my closet and use it as my own makeshift recording booth."Big Baby's musical dreams, however, soon started to become his reality when he made his first official studio recording titled "Hate In Ya Blood (Freestyle)". Caught between the struggle for survival and dedication to his aspiring football career, his spirituality and drive to strive always kept him tied to the streets but with the visions and dreams of an extraordinary artist. His life experiences as a father have also served as an inspiration for Ouck Da Big Baby, who is father to David Roman, Jr., 4 years old, and Iyanna, 1 year old, and expecting a daughter shortly.
In August of 2009, Ouck Da Big Baby performed at the "Buzz Showcase" in downtown Manhattan, where he was scouted by I&S Group. After months of collaborations, negotiations and evaluations, the I&S Group opened it's doors to Ouck Da Big Boy and he is now their featured signed artist.
