Baratos Afins just released the second album by brazilian psychedelic group, Os Skywalkers.
Their first album " Correndo atras do Perigo" (Chasing Danger) was released in 2002 and managed to show that it still possible to make 60's influenced music in the new century and that it worked quite well, thank you.
Stand out cuts on the first album are Ave Lanny Gordin (legendary brazilian guitarrist who played with Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Tim Maia, Rita Lee, Jards Macale and Gal Costa) and " Para Entrar na Cena", enough to make fans osf 60's guitar rock weep with delight
"Zenmakumba", like its predecessor is drenched in psychedelic fuzz guitars but manages to sound incredibly diferent and new. Mainly because of the addition of sax, trumpet and percussion played by guest musicians who manage to flow with the music and not against it
The first cut, Saudacao, manages to sound like an outtake from Love's "Forever Changes", soft spanish guitar intro and even horns. The rest of the album highlights Os Skywalkers unique mix of 60's american, british and brazilian pop. Os Skywalkers show that there is much more to brazilian rock than Os Mutantes (practically the only brazilian psychedelic rock band know outside Brazil, despite having broken up in the early 70's)
