Catalepsy = muscular rigidity, current from many possible forms of disease (such like deep hypnosis or precocious dementia) indicating similar aspect of the one current to death. Consequence: premature burial.

Usually the cataleptics end up being buried alive.

The only Brazilian band to adopt the most aggressive side of Psychobilly, called by some: "Power Psychobilly". Power trio which play on the limit of speed, utilizing the bases and the instrumental simplicity of Rockabilly, like the simplified drum kit and the acoustic upright bass, coming together with a constantly distorted guitar. This formula results in an extremely fast and violent sound, where they spill insane screams that approach macabre teams, revealing the terror in all its faces.

The band was born in June 1996 in the south region of Brazil, more precisely in the city of Curitiba, where the Brazilian Psychobilly developed more. It counts with integrants of some of the oldest Brazilian bands (Missionários and Os Cervejas) which made the base of the whole local psycho scene in the 80's.

Since their first line up only one change occurred, going out the first drummer, Marcio Tadeu, and coming in Coxinha, which complete the group with Vlad (guitar/vocals) and Gus Tomb (Coffin-Bass). After the set up of the band, they stood one year without a concert, only rehearsing. Only in September of 1997 they started on the most important Brazilian Psychobilly festival, on the 4th Psychobilly Fest. After the debut they did in record time all the possible places to play in their region. At the same year, they signed contract to participate on the biggest Psychobilly festival in the world, on the 10th Big Rumble, in England, where they played on the same stage with bands like The Meteors, Guana Batz, Frenzy, Long Tall Texans, Restless, Los Gatos Locos and more.

The participation on the festival gave them the opportunity to have the invite of the English label Fury Records to be on 2 compilations (Rumble Party Vol.6 and The Best of Fury Psychobilly), and after record their first solo CD.

When they returned to Brazil, they passed January and February in the studio. In March of 1998 was already recorded their first CD, with 13 songs, called Little Bits of Insanity, which released in England stayed during seven months between the 3 most seller CD's of the British distributing label Nervous Records. The good repercussion of their first CD permitted the return to Europe in 98, when the band was again in the line-up, now at the 11th Big Rumble.

In the year of 1999 the band played a lot in Brazil, mainly in the capital cities of the South and Southeast region, and some cities of the interior of the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo.

Again in the studio, on the second semester they recorded their newer release, the 7" EP and M-CD, From Beyond the Grave!!!, released in the end of 99, in Japan by the Revel Yell Music label. Besides this release, the band participated in 99 in two more international compilations released in Germany by the labels Black Sky and Crazy Love Records

On the second semester of 2000, the Brazilian label Barulho Records re-released in Brazil their first CD Little Bits Of Insanity.

Still on the second semester of 2000 they did a tour in Europe, that passed through 5 countries. At this time was released the CD Zombification, by the German label Crazy Love Records, and after it was re-released in Brazil in the beginning of 2001, by Barulho Records. By 2004, Vlad and Crazy Christian (WEBMASTER) met and unleashed an online massive exposure of Os Catalepticos, the most BRUTAL DEMONIC AND quite possibly FASTEST psychobilly of it's time. Os Catalepticos finally rested in peace in 2006 after 10 long years the band finally decided to call it a grave.

Os Catalépticos may record a new CD soon. This CD may be alive.
