「せつな」はモディリアーニとその妻を描いたテレビ局番組のシナリオに触発されてピアノ曲として作曲されました。「白せつな」からストリングオーケストラ用の「赤せつな」、弦楽四重奏用の「青せつな」を編曲しましたが、やはりオーケストラよりもダイナミックなレンジで表現出来るピアノの楽器としての優れた特徴を改めて認識しました。楽曲はポピュラーな音楽ですが、がちがちのソナタ形式で、第一テーマの動機を利用してポリフォニックな雰囲気を出し、再利用、展開しております。

"Setsuna" was originally created as piano music impressed by a scenario of Japanese TV program about Amedeo Clemente Modigliani and his wife. I arranged "Red Setsuna" as music for string orchestra from "White Setsuna" and also arranged "Blue Setsuna" as music for string quartet. I understood again piano is an excellent instrument with more dynamic sound range than orchestra. This piece is very easy to listen, but I applied sonata form very strictly to this. A motif of first theme is used to create polyphonic atmosphere and also reused and developed effectively.
