After being brought up in South Wales as a kid, the first band that Opus One aspired to was Public Enemy and at the age of 12 years old he was rocking local cabaret shows as a dodgy looking Flavor Flav (clocks and all!) with his partner in crime Depo as Chuck D. Opus formed the band Ruff Intalect, "the first ever hip hop crew in Wales", and went on to rock crowds in clubs that he wasnt old enough to get into. The band included Dyligent who still Djs with Opus. Ruff Intalect played across the UK for many years and made 3 eps courtesy of Tony Blair and New Deal, the last of which In Focus was put out on vinyl and made waves in the small but tight Welsh hip hop scene.



Opus moved up to London in '99 where he met Mr Ronz and Dom Coyote. They went on to form Arkane. After the releases of the albums Civility and Handstylez - featuring Supar Novar (Mud Fam) and Prem C (Zulu Nation) - Arkane gained a steady following across UK cities like Leicester, Bristol, Cardiff and London.



Arkane took a back seat last year and its members began to concentrate on their own solo projects. Opus One continues to collaborate with all members of Arkane and is currently working on new material with Mr Ronz and Dyligent. He has also recently hooked up with Toe Jam The Truth" and Mr Shifta on "City Speak", both due for release on white label . Opus One appeared in the British feature film "Kidulthood", out on dvd now. Opus is promoting the film, and has recently appeared with Roots Manuva on Ras Kwames Radio One show. The soundtrack features an exclusive remix of his track Supo Mungam. (Click here to buy)
