My music is hip-hop, sometimes with a twist of r&b," says 9.VOLT when asked to classify his genre. True enough, this Los Angeles born hip-hop artist focuses not only on lyrical content, but melodic and memorable hooks. "I like music that sounds different," he continues, "I want people to listen to my songs, then listen again so they can get a true understanding of what I'm talking about. I keep people guessing and wondering."

With the influences of legendary artists such as Tupac and LL Cool J, his versatility sets him apart from other up and coming hip-hop artists. Working with veteran producers such as 12 of Da Wof Pak and “King Scratch”, he established his sound and method of delivery. With the encouragements of world reknowned producer Johnny J (Tupac) and Tre of the Kinfolkz, 9.VOLT set out on a mission to become a leader in the hip-hop game. In 2006, 9.VOLT released “Only Da Strong Survive Vol.1” and received rave reviews from all over the world with songs like “Love Letter pt.2,” “West Up,” and “Let’s Go.” A skillful songwriter, lyricist, and performer, 9.VOLT gives an energy filled show. His stage presence could very well match the energy level of Kanye West, who he feels is one of the great icons of our time. 9.VOLT has graced many stages including opening for W.C. and Jay-O Felony. Most recently, he has performed at the world famous Viper Room on Sunset Boulevard, which was previously owned by Johnny Depp.

With the studio being his second home, 9.VOLT has big plans for 2009. The finishing touches are being put on the anticipated promotional album which features up and coming producers such as Erupt of Main Event West, the veteran King Scratch and many more. Independently releasing a pre-album as well as a debut album later this year, he continues his musical journey making footprints in the independent music world.

And while 9.VOLT attributes his success to his mother, a single parent, who passed away in 1990, others say that his perseverance, dedication, and love for hip-hop is what keeps him at the top of his game. Kingdom House CEO, and actor, Emil Milan commends 9.VOLT, “He has such a great spirit. Just the vibe he gives off when you are around him…” With that said, he is destined for greatness…
