PRESS
Miniature Music Press - Simon Read - "With the terrific material at their disposal and their indisputable live prowess, the MMP suggests this ride might be one worth getting on"
Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music - "I really like this track! Some top notch music from Wales"
Buzz Magazine - ZM - "Rock, R&B, Electro, Funk and spaced out vibes this is a great sound." ****
Peppermint Iguana Zine - "It's always nice when you come across something that is hard to pigeonhole and this little number is definitely a defiant little bugger. Part rock, part dance, part pop, part soul, part funk, but all top quality" ****
Miniature Music Press - Simon Read - "Set for release early 2011, it seems a great deal of time's been spent pulling in a range of collaborators and capturing a sense of diversity alongside the tried and tested template of strong beats and melodies. Magic Notion, featuring Sabrina Mahi, has a slap-bass funk chic about it. It's Demeaning is a quasi-political knees-up masterpiece with echoes of Soul II Soul reverberating off frantic electronica. Sally Thomas' vocal effort on The Way It Is lends it a lush laidback Massive Attack ambience while Something On My Brain's house tempo plays alongside a Beta Band quirkiness"
BIO - A STANKY FUNK ELECTROBOP is upon us.
Omega66 began with producer and musician - Krik, working with different vocalists and collaborators from his home studio in Wales, UK. It was originally formed from the ashes of Dark Chunk who won the Unsigned bands competition for Glastonbury 2004 (Dance tent catergory). Since then Old and new Omega66 tracks have been played on Radio 1, Radio 6, kiss FM, Galaxy 101, Radio Wales and more. In 2007 they recorded their debut album “Essential Fatty Acid”. The first track on the album “Fall in Situation” was remixed by producers Angel Farringdon and Angel De-lux. It was played as a world wide exclusive on Annie Nightingales Radio 1 show. They have played many gigs all around the UK and became known for their engergic live performances.
With a break from the live scene, for a year and a half Omega 66 was a studio project, concentrating on producing diverse music, collaborating with a range of vocalists and artists, fusing various styles with dance music with funk. Krik has recently joined forces with singer Sally Thomas(Lead Vocals), and Omega66 made their debut of the more recent material recruiting Adrian Wiggins(Percussion). They took their new tracks to the stage at the Globe, Cardiff in May 2010, followed by many other venues across Cardiff and a headline slot at the Small Nations festival In Wales.
They are due to release their Second Album "Nools and High Horses" this spring featuring various vocalists including Sabrina Mahi and Dionne Bennett. So far, It has been credited for its diversity, boldness and production by early reviews.
