Okieson sounds pure and real, when listening to their music
you have the feeling to be there with them and they are
taking you on a journey that begins with an alienating 'David Lynch-like image.
You drive through 'Eno' land and cruise up and down the sloping hills of
'Wilco' and 'Calexico' and when 'the Stones' roll down the mountain you will cross the
rocks of 'Young' and end up looking out over 'Woven Hand' valley.
Okieson has transcended the Americana genre and indefinitely opened up the borders
between tradition and the sounds of now.
After 'Cupboard full of things' in 2009, now the Okiesonean collective shows up with a
third release called 'Some one' n some want.
An album recorded in the sweltering late summer of Nashville Tennessee.
Starting point, good musicians in a good studio and keep the old tape machine rolling
The harvest of this process an authentic band record.
Sounding names of this ever evolving collective are:
Pete Cummings (Elvis Presley) guitar, Matt Swanson and Tony Crow
(Lambchop), bass and keys, David Geraerts (guitar), Peter Palermo
(gitbox!) drums, Peter Muselaers (Bass) and fine guest appearances by Paul
Niehaus (Calexico) and Caitlin Rose.
Some one 'n some want' was produced by Mark Nevers
(Bonnie Prince Billy, Andrew Bird a.o.) and Okieson frontman Sebastian VanBylevelt.
