Shane Hampsheir is one of the countries leading swing singers and has performed with some of the very best bands in the world including 'The Syd Lawrence Orchestra', 'The Pete Long Big Band', 'The Debbie Curtis Radio Big Band' and 'The Len Phillips Big Band' as well as with his own band of World-class musicians.
Since hitting the music scene back in August 2005, Shane Hampsheir has appeared on albums with Elton John, Girls Aloud and Katherine Jenkins, sang infront of over 2.5 million people and been on two U.K No.1 compilation albums selling 2million each. Also, his shows throughout Britain have been great successes and he's also worked with some of the World's most respected musicians.
In 2005, Shane was just 17 and was still studying musical theatre at college. Now, aged 21, he feels he's learnt so much.
"Generally I think, the last few of your teenage years you learn so much anyway, about who you are as a person and things you like and dislike. I'm much more into music and performing than I was when I first started out and take it so much more seriously, until I get onto the stage that is! I've learnt much more about the music I sing too, not only Sinatra and the Ratpack, Michael Bublé, Tony Bennett and obvious candidates for the greatest song interpreters of the past century but also guys from Bobby Darin and his rarest live performances to Bing Crosby in his early days and the Mills Brothers and the Andrews Sister's. All great, never-forgotten musicians who I look upto."
2010 was the year Shane took it up a notch show-wise and brought us all a taste of Las Vegas with his all new show, 'Swinging At The Sands'. He describes the show as something that, for him, 'has to be done'.
"Throughout the last few years I've been listening to all of the Sinatra at The Sands albums and Bobby Darin at the Desert Inn etc. and have wanted to do a show with this music included. I'm interested what it'd be like to try and recapture the atmosphere, what it was like back in the 60's in these iconic venues with such material to sing and perform to a live audience.
Once I've got it out of my system I would say I'd probably move onto something else and that would surely include writing my own material and recording new albums, touring as much as possible and making a bigger name for myself, in a good way, of course!"
So, it seems Shane and his rising star will just be shining even brighter this year and good luck to him!
