.:ABOUT:.

D'espairsRay is a leader in a musical movement known in Japan as Visual kei. Visual kei is a genre that started in the mid-80s, and consists of all male groups who put equal emphasis on both sound and looks, often creating a dark, androgynous image to go along with the deep concepts that most Visual kei bands have.

D'espairsRay (pronounced Despair's Ray) started activities in 1999, and has never had a member change. They are four members; HIZUMI (Vox), Karyu (Gt), ZERO (Ba), and TSUKASA (Dr). D'espairsRay has not yet signed to a major label. Despite being active for almost seven years, D'espairsRay had not released a full album until June of 2005, which gave them plenty of time and preparation to create the incredible emotional journey which they entitled [Coll:set]. With the concept of fighting to gain freedom from both society and the self, [Coll:set] is a dark and powerful experience which will leave you breathless and begging for more.

It is many fans belief that D'espairsRay is a live band, and can not be fully understood until you take part of that contagious energy that pulses from any stage they stand on. Their lives are absolutely amazing, and are definitely an eye-opening experience, if not a life-altering one. Always in perfect harmony with each other and never tiring out, D'espairsRay is simply a band that can not be missed.

.:HISTORY:.

D'espairsRay has slowly been expanding overseas, starting in Europe. To date, D'espairsRay has played in America on four different occasions. Their first American experience was from May 30th-June 4th of 2005, playing in San Jose, San Francisco, and Dallas twice. Inspired by the passionate fan reaction and determined to touch more people with their art, they returned for an Autumn tour from Oct. 27th-Nov. 3rd, holding lives at Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Morristown, New York, Boston, Baltimore, and Virginia Beach. The members of D'espairsRay were able to fully understand America and the American style of touring on this tour, due to the tight schedule and living in and out of a tour bus, both aspects of touring that they are not used to in Japan. Feeling that they had a foothold, D'espairsRay returned again to America for a short two date mini-tour with lives held in New York and Orlando, from Feb. 23rd-Feb.26th of 2006. The turnout at both shows was more than double of what D'espairsRay had seen before in America, giving them the energy to completely captivate the venue and dominate the crowd in a way that was a sight to behold.

Right on the tail of the release of the single "kogoeru yoru ni saita hana", D'espairsRay again awed their American fans with a fourth visit to America, playing three dates in NJ [Meadowlands Exposition Center], CT [Webster Underground], and NY [CBGB's] from June 15-17, 2006.

Stay tuned for future live announcements!!
