Otto's Daughter is female fronted cyber erotic pop-metal. The perfect balance between melody and aggression, light and shade. Fragile yet brutal. The music straddles the fence between pop and metal, never sacraficing one for the other. Jacqueline Van Bierks soothing, caressing vocals float sensually above the often muscular musical landscape; providing the velvet glove to the instruments pumping fist.
Otto's Daughters sound has evolved from raw, goth/industrial to a tantilizing, erotic riff raff mealstrom. European transplant and brainchild of Otto's Daughter, Jacqueline Van Bierk formed the band in NYC and relocated to Los Angeles, CA with guitarist Jim Robbins where they found drummer "G" Gilbert and Ro on bass solidifying their new line-up.

Starting music at 5 yrs old on piano; playing viola, string bass, violin & cello from elementary through high school; & self taught to play electric guitar before switching to bass; I have constantly strived to make music my professional career.
Despite knowledge of sequencing & programming, I have made the 5 string bass guitar my primary instrument.
I always envisioned the bass to be the 'viola and cello of a quartet' in rock music, the middle & the lows. Not necessarily being a 'lead bassist', but a solid backbone that's on beat with the drums in the same key as the guitars. Though I love the fun of 70's to 80's rock and funk bass lines, and the technicality of 90's death metal & thrash, the industrial sound is the style I love most. So much more atmospheric. So close to the classical music that I was taught growing up. I never wanted to be the best bassist in the world, I just want to do what sounds good, and make sure the bass stands out as an 'instrument'!
Going as far as I could in NC, I had to venture out west to pursue my dream. In IND, I learned how to entertain a crowd with stage presence. I also toured the southeast, playing Club La Vela's Spring Break 2003 in Panama City, FL for a week straight with them. Here in LA, it was time to show what I've learned from those experiences of 500+ crowds!!! It took me a while to get that comfort back playing with different styles of music that I was not accustomed to. Now, I know I have the things needed to go the distance. With Otto's Daughter, I've been fortunate to tour with them across the US, playing gigs like Warped Tour 2006 to all of the Sunset Strip Clubs here in LA to Houston to Nashville to NYC. I'm ready to see the rest of the world now, and this new OD CD will take us there!!!
Now with Ernie Ball Musicman bass guitars and Ampeg bass amps/cabs, I'm so good to go for the long haul, its unreal. I never thought I'd play anything else but Ibanez, Hartke & Zoom pedals for the longest time. Though they are great tools for everything, none can compare to what I was in store for. Ibanez was my main bass just for being so light weight and so punchy and effects oriented. till I grabbed a hold of a Stingray from Ernie Ball. WOW!!! Major boost from all ends not counting when I bought my Ampeg amp and cab.WHOA!!! What Musicman and Ampeg did to my sound to mage it even more defined and rawer sounding than I ever imagined. The low end from both of these products are gold. I don't think I can ever go back, though I will use a lighter Ibanez as a back up or they can prove me wrong, though do want a Bongo now with the dual pickups. . These products with my tech 21 Sansamp PSA1 keep my sound in the pocket, as well as give me the live sound & recording sound needed to give the bass a there feeling I need for the distorted effects I use live, and ease of use for the soundman mixing our live mix. Raw low end, and funky punchy riffs our what our music call for with the diversity it has.
