Andy (Jalapeno / Jale) Olvera began his carrer in 1994. Working as a weekend warrior for KBBA 1470 am. In 1996 he was offered a position with KXTN Tejano 107.5Fm in San Antonio, Texas. During his time in San Antonio Mr. Olvera really learned the art of production. "I tried to learn from some of the other guys." said Olvera, "but I was the new kid from West Texas so they really were not trying to show me to much". Mr. Olvera decided he had no choice but to try and teach himself as much as he could. " I started going into work off the clock and just making up commercials. Writing the scripts, producing the commercials, pretty much everything I didn't know i was trying. Then one day i remember sitting down with my PD J.D. Gonzalez and he really let me have it. He told me He hired me expecting me to progress alot quicker than I had. Keep in mind I was 18 at the time so I felt like I was getting a scolding from my dad!" This did not slow Mr. Olvera down in any way. "I am human so naturally i felt down, angry, and confused. But I built from it and bettered my self." After 4 years with a "MAJOR MARKET STATION" Mr. Olvera decided to change genres of music and focused on mainstream radio. " This is where I learned that I was in an industry that could make me some serious dough If I stayed focused and really pushed my self vocally, production wise, and also learning the business aspect of it." Now Mr. Olvera found himself in the wonderful world of top 40 radio at KTFM hot 102.7FM in San Antonio! "I did a spot for a car lot and used alot of energy and sound effects, you know your typical "EVERYTHING MUST GO!" type of commercial. Next thing I know we had clients requesting me to do their spots cause I sounded different and had a certain energy that they wanted." Mr. Olvera decided in 1999 to move back to Abilene, Texas and focus on the family. " I had a little girl that was still small and decided I really wanna work a "REAL" job and have some kind of stability, also I wanted to raise my kids in a smaller town. Don't ask how but I wound up in the ever changing world of RENT - TO - OWN Collections. I did that for about six years till Jun of 04." Mr. Olvera was approached by a longtime friend, Mr. Juan Torres, and offered Mr. Olvera a Job. " He told me "We are opening up a Tejano station and I want you to program it." I am a radio guy and i had my chance to do what I loved again so I took it." Upon buying the station a gentleman by the name of Pete Garcia came with the station. " I always joke with Pete that he was like a desk, just part of the buy lol!" Little did Mr. Olvera know that Mr. Garcia was the key to making one of his biggest dream come true. "truth be told, Me and Pete didn't really speak to each other very much. But as in all work places we became friends. We worked together well because he had so much experience and i would correct him and him me and so forth. I still remember to this day when Pete came to me and said "We are doing good enough work, I really think we could open a voice production company." I looked at him and said lets do it!" Now 4 years later Mr. Olvera Along with Mr Garcia, can be heard through out the US and World wide on the Internet. For more info visit www.extremevoiceproductions.com.
