Nu Earth Project

New Earth project is not yet one year old - born in December 2006 of the

encounter between two musicians, both composers as well as talented in

several instruments. Jean-Patrick Voindrot and Jean-Jacques Rébillard

first met at high school in Ivry sur Seine, a small town on the doorstep

of Paris. At the time, the young guitarists shared their music in jam

sessions. Later destiny separated the two and although they worked with

the same studios and trade fairs, for years their paths didn’t cross.

During the 80’s, with its keyboards and other predecessors to

the electronic drums, JP and JJ were both studio musicians as well

as arrangers for other artists. In 1992, the two met up again during

sessions with the Californian saxophonist Shannon Murray. Their

collaboration kicked off once again with the production of CD's

throughout the next four years for the magazines “Guitar Collector” and

“Guitar OKE”. Strangely enough, however, they didn't recognize each

other as the kids that had once jammed together until 1996, during an

evening of reminiscing about old days!!!

While producing covers for prestigious groups and artists such as Jimi

Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Led Zeppelin., JJ and JP

also worked together on more personal projects. Notably their music can

be heard illustrating numerous fiction films and documentaries. Then in

the year 2000, while continuing to collaborate, each artist once again

started to work individually. JP composes music for films and produces

several artists. JJ is fascinated by and experiments with the music of

the Middle East and Africa.

The New Earth Project was born out of all this. The music of five

continents, samples of which are combined with

specially performed instruments reminding us that the earth remains our

most irreplaceable possession - the one clear landmark for humanity in

search of bearings….

Nu Earth Project est un groupe récent (décembre 2006), né de la

rencontre des deux compositeurs et multi-instrumentistes Jean-Patrick

Voindrot et Jean-Jacques Rébillard. Une rencontre qui date pourtant.de

1972 lorsque JP et JJ étaient élèves au lycée dIvry sur Seine - France,

à deux pas de Paris, déjà guitaristes, fort contents de pouvoir jammer

ensemble dès que loccasion se présentait. Mais les chemins se séparent

et chacun suit sa route et son destin, fréquentant les mêmes studios et

autres salons de la musique sans que les trajectoires se croisent. JP et

JJ sont alors musiciens de studio, compositeurs et arrangeurs pour de

nombreux artistes. Ce sont les années 80 avec leur cortège de synthés et

autres drums pré-électro. Il faut attendre 1992 pour que les deux

compères se retrouvent à locasion de séances pour le saxophoniste

californien Shannon Murray. Pourtant, aussi inimaginable que cela puisse

paraitre, JP et JJ ne se reconnaissent pas et ils travaillent ensemble

durant 4 ans sur la production des CD des magazines Guitar Collector et

Guitar OKE sans se douter quils ont jammé ensemble il y a plus de 20

ans !! A loccasion dune soirée et dun échange de souvenirs ils sen

rappelleront finalement en 1996. Tout en produisant les covers des

morceaux de groupes ou de guitaristes prestigeux (Jimi Hendrix, Eric

Clapton, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Led Zeppelin.) JJ et JP commencent à

travailler sur des projets plus personnels, notamment la musique

dillustration et lon peut entendre leurs titres sur des films,

reportages et autres docs. A partir de 2000, tout en continuant à

travailler sur ces projets communs, chacun suit sa voie. JP compose des

musiques de films, produit différents artistes et JJ sintéresse

beaucoup à la musique orientale et africaine. De ces différentes

expériences est né Nu Earth Project, la musique des cinq continents, à

base de samples et dinstruments joués, pour se souvenir que la Terre

reste le bien le plus irremplançable pour une humanité instable.
