Nuala Kennedy is a singer and flautist playing traditional music from Scotland, Ireland and from the fathomless realms of her own imagination. Her latest album 'Tune In' is released on Nashville's Compass Records, and was inspired by an old analogue radio. It features ten unique and evocative tracks with guest appearances by several well known recording artists. Described variously as 'A Picaresque Adventure' **** The Irish Times, 'Adventurous and Absorbing' **** The List, Radio Kennedy is never Static' **** The Scotsman, Tune In was voted one of the top ten traditional albums of 2010 by The Irish Times. A new animation by Irish artist Dave Morrow of 'All of These Days' a song from Tune In can be seen here!
As well as her eclectic band of merry minstrels, Kennedy has worked with a diverse range of artists including Will Oldham, Norman Blake, Euros Childs, Ziggy Campbell and FOUND, Cathal McConnell Caoimhin O’Raghaillaigh, Filippo Gambetta, Troy Macgillivray, Andrea Beaton, Kimberley Fraser and the late great Canadian composer Oliver Schroer, with whom she recorded ‘Enthralled’ a duo album of original compositions. (Borealis Records 2011)
Her debut traditional album ‘The New Shoes’ received rave reviews from pundits around the globe, was voted album of the week in the Irish Times and was featured in Hotpress’ Top Ten Folk Albums of last year.
