Nova Blue, originally from Portland, Oregon, are deliciously influenced by the expansive, creative nature of Los Angeles though still strongly connected to their Northwest roots. Theirs is the typical rock & roll journey from hometown heroes to small fish in a big town. In the spring of 1999, Nova Blue moved to LA and set up shop in Venice Beach. Playing gigs in various clubs throughout the LA area, Nova Blue became interested in analog recording. They finished their first full-length album at a studio called Grandma’s Warehouse in Silverlake and released it on their own label, Hippy Ninja Records, in May of 2002. Nova Blue had caught the analog bug and started building their own analog studio in their garage.

Besides working on their songwriting craft, Nova Blue has always loved doing improvisational jams. When they first arrived in LA, they started an improv night and invited many musicians on stage with them. This lasted for a few months before they decided to bring it back into their studio where they could record these spontaneous compositions and then share them with the world. Nova Blue now boasts an extensive music library which can be heard at their explosive live shows and on independent film soundtracks, as well as upcoming albums and improv jam sessions available on their website.

Many have compared Nova Blue to the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and Jimi Hendrix. Like all of these groups, Nova Blue is original and knows how to make an audience dance their cares away.
