Notch are a four piece Rock and Metal outfit described as “a band that rock in all the right places” by The National Music For Youth Festival Judges.



The Notch journey really began in 2005. The band idea came about as a release from The GSCE exam process. With the four guys coming together for practise once a week, covering other bands material including Enter Sandman by Metallica and more.

Notch then had been gigging locally, playing no more than a half a dozen times, when a phone call in May 2005 bought fantastic news for Notch who were asked to compete in The National Music for Youth Festival the largest of its kind in Europe. The band at this time had just been covering other bands material, but one band practise saw a jam turn into a song and the original sound of Notch was born. They took part in The National Music for Youth Festival on Saturday July 16th 2005 at The Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham. This was to be the largest venue they had played. Coming away after the show with the prestigious Best Original Composition Award for 2005.

After that show the band knew this could lead to something more than anyone ever imagined. Having a created a sound in the genre of Metallica with the modern energetic edge of Bullet For My Valentine, the bands popularity grew. Local gigging followed and 2006 saw more than 40 shows played by the guys, including several festivals around the southwest. Now well established in Exeter area, Notch keep expanding further and further a field. Practising all the time, devoting their life to their music, the band continue to grow and grow in popularity, on stage energy and musical ability. With 14 gigs booked for 2007 already and a four track demo on the way, the years looking up for Notch. Watch This Space . . . . . . .
