THIS IS MONROE.

Leaving Ireland to pursue a career as a singer, Jo headed for the Brighton Institute of Modern Music- home of Lily Allen and the Kooks. A great starting point for any singer, she was trained by some of the world's most respected vocal coaches such as Carleen Anderson and Roger Kain, It was here she met Foy who was studying guitar, they quickly hit it off and after one acoustic gig formed Monroe.
Leaving college in 2007 Monroe played support slots for the likes of Scouting for Girls, the Gossip and the Ting Tings, they have also shared a stage with Ben Harper, Chad Smith and Carleen Anderson. When Billy Freedom (Queen Adreena/ Cape Fear) was played a recording of their first single he immediately recognised their fresh individuality and pulled them into the studio where he played on and produced their first EP alongside Mark Ralph (Filthy Dukes), this established them as an exciting new sound on the London scene.
Jo's vocals are frequently compared to that of Amy Lee, giving Londoners some much needed strong female fronted Indie pop, making unforgettable radio ready songs already showcased on some of the UK's biggest stations, including the BBC and X-FM and juice FM.
Monroe has played some of the U.K and Europe's most prestigious venues, including the Astoria, Clapham Grand, Bar Fly, Water Rats, Sound and Punk and several UK festivals.
Two tracks from their first EP have been picked to appear on two films which are being shown at the Cannes and Sundance film festival earning them their first sound track placement.
Always on the lookout for bigger and better things, Monroe are currently in NYC recording a new album. Follow Monroe on Twitter, Facebook and Myspace.
