Destined to be one of the most prolific female hip hop artists in the industry, Nina Ross has been compared to mostly Male Emcees. Female lyricists such as MC Lyte and Roxxane Shante along with Cool C, L.L. Cool J and Run D.M.C. were her influences. Her spitfire, in your face delivery has everyone begging for more verses. In 1992, after the murder of one of her close friends, she chose to express her pain through rhymes. After being complimented on her on first song, she chose to take rap serious. Along the way she has destroyed plenty of male and female competition, being recognized as one the hottest artist to walk the mean streets of Philadelphia. In 2000, she landed a record deal at Priority with partner Pooda Brown and began to record songs with Grammy award winning producer, Timberland. With help from her manager, she was featured on an unreleased song with West Coast Hip Hop legend Snoop Dogg. She eventually parted ways with Priority and begun to focus on her solo career. In May of 2002, working on new material she faced a near death experience, being shot three times from a violent relationship. While re-cooperating in the Hospital she vowed to never take life for granted and began to work as hard as possible to right the wrongs. With a new outlook on life she focused ing vivid pictures of her life experiences in her music. After recording over 40 songs worth of new material, she flooded the streets with freestyles and eventually released the critically acclaimed ”Boss Bitch” mixtape which went on to sell over twenty thousand copies out of the trunk. She was a frequent guest on both Power 99 and 100.3 The Beat (formerly 103.9). Video Magazines began to take notice as she has been featured on every volume of the 2 Raw for Da Streets DVD. After being branded as a neighborhood celebrity, nationally known talent began to take notice. After a manger for Freeway had a conversation with Bizarre from Eminem’s group D12, a meeting was set up between Nina Ross, Bizarre and Proof and was asked to be the only unsigned artist to guest judge on the groups, “Who Wanna Battle” DVD series. She has opened up for artists such as The Wu-Tang Clan, Beanie Sigel and performed at Power 99’s annual concert series entitled Powerhouse. She has recorded songs with Roc-A-Fella artists Freeway and Peedi Peedi (aka Peedi Crack), Former Death Row artist Kurupt and a host of others. Standing firm on her beliefs, this is definitely her year to shine and the whole world will get to know who Nina Ross really is.
