While still performing across the country with multi-award winning, platinum selling act, Avalon, Nikki received a surprise phone call from then Sony CEO, Tommy Mottola. He had heard a demo she had recorded (a lala track as a demo singer), and wanted to meet her immediately. Not too long after the impromptu meeting, Hassman was recording a solo album for Columbia Records, and working with acclaimed producer/songwriters such as Patrick Leonard, Keith Thomas, and Adam Anders. Co-writing 11 of the 13 tracks, Hassmans album took shape with a synthesis of ethereal melody, lyrical introspection, and pop sensibility. Two of the songs were featured on major soundtracks: Dawsons Creek (Any Lucky Penny) and The Wedding Planner (Adore You).
