NIDIAS BIO
Nidia Ortiz was born in the beautiful Caribbean land of the Dominican Republic, in the city of Santo Domingo. From a young child, Nidia was singing in her father's church choir. Later she founded her own band with her brother and little sister. They played Christian music in and around the churches of her homeland, participating in small and large events like the Annual Christian Meeting at Santo Domingo Stadium in her hometown. She has been heard on some of the local radio stations and TV stations as well.
Her live performances are full of charm and her silky, smooth tropical latin vocals transport the listener to an unknown, imaginary world of relaxation and pleasure. When you hear Nidia sing, you're on a warm beach, surrounded by nothing but smooth white sands as the ocean runs up on the shoreline at sunset.
She has been composing and music and writing lyrics of her own since she was eight years old and was trained under the influences of several music styles including: Merengue (the folk music of her country), Salsa, but also pop, soul, classic, contemporary christian and gospel music (which she grew up on for a long time in church). Her musical focus is Latin ( Latin Pop, Latin House, Latin Lounge) which can also be described as her own eclectic mix of latin pop.
Now she lives in Germany and works with everal record labels there like: Tyranno Lounge Rec., Solardish Records (or Zweiklang), Bevision (or Rumba del Sol) among some others. Some of her recordings appear in many compilation CDs around the world through some of the most well known imprints like the Sony BMG (see Songs: Pasión Caribeña /CD Bar Lounge Classics Bossa Nova Edition, Make Me Yours, and many other titles). She is working mainly as a female studio ocalist and artist, but also she does „live" performances on demand. And watching her performing „live" is a truly delightful, unforgettable experience!
