Nico D, alias Nicolas Albert Holter, has had a more international upbringing than most. He was born in Paris 27 years ago and moved frequently from country to country with his family before settling down in Oslo, Norway.
Considerable exposure to widely different cultures has definitely characterized Nico's musical preferences. It's reggae that's closest to his heart, though, and thus pervades his original, passionate singing.
Almost six years ago Nico D decided to pursue a musical carreer full-time, as a part of Jah Ark Manifest Sound, but also featuring on several hits in Norway, touring the country many times, and playing at many of the most popular Norwegian festivals (Oya, Quart, Traena, Manefestivalen and more.). Nico has also performed several times at the Oslo City Hall Square and its annual VG Topp 20 concert (official Norwegian hitlist), with its record breaking crowds of up to a 100,000 people.
His music has taken him abroad, too, to countries like Sweden, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Canada, and of course Jamaica.
For his ambition was always to create a link to Jamaica, and in 2008, a year before setting his foot on Jamaican soil for the first time, Nico met Jah Mason in Oslo, Norway. This encounter resulted in the making of their hit combination „Ruff Times“, currently blazing the Jamaican airwaves, including airplay on IrieFM and getting massive love from DJ personalitites such as Ronn Muschette, Elise Kelly, Mighty Mike, Dj Wayne and more. It didn't take long after he arrived for a six week stay in January 2009 for the people of this musically blessed country to notice the charismatic singer, as he did four radio interviews including a live performance (ActionNews, NewsTalk 93, RootsFM, BesFM), an interview on the popular website YardFlex.com, as well as an interview on the prestigious TV show "On Stage" with Winford Williams. Nico also featured in newspaper articles in X-News and StarNews.
Nico D is now back in Oslo, working on his first album featuring artists such as Jah Mason, The Congos, Admiral P and more!
