Nick Canger is a true representation of a young man from the Northwest. He loves to fish, hunt and everything outdoors.
His true love though, started in his dad's church in Post Falls, Idaho. Nick's dad was the preacher at River City Fellowship. After teaching Nick a few chords, the rest seemed to be a natural path to his true love.music.
After graduating from Post Falls high school, he took a few jobs around town while trying to figure out what the unsettled feeling in his gut was.
It didn't take long to make up his mind, so he began to pack up his belongings for the move to Music City Mecca, Nashville, Tennessee.
This was his first time ever venturing out from his familiar surroundings and his very close knit family.
Nashville is a very difficult town to actually break into. There are a lot of unspoken rules and procedures a young artist wouldn't know.
Luckily, Nick's amazing personality and talent, led him to befriend singer songwriter, Michael Peterson. Michael has co-written, and performed hits with the likes of Brad Paisley. Michael spent time coaching and directing Nick, which led him to start performing at "in the round" nights, with other songwriters like Gary Chapman, Chas Sanford, and Dickey Lee.
The living arrangements, and day job seemed to be to far to travel daily, and songwriter nights are a must for a young artist. Michael was suggesting Nick might think about going more main stream pop since he had a natural, John Mayer, Jason Miraz feel. A bit confused, Nick decided to pull back and go back home to figure it out. It was a tough but necessary decision at the time. The dreams faded a bit, but he continued his musical career after returning, performing regularly with well know musician and performer Pat Coast.
One day, a neighbor saw and add in the Nicklesworth for a singer/guitarist, and passed it on to Nick.
Nick went to meet a gentlemen who recently moved here from Nashville, and wanted to put a band together to perform locally.
The man was Bob Wolf, a 30 year veteran of Music, Radio, Television, and the Nashville night club industry.
Bob heard Nick sing one song. laughed. and said"why in God's name do I want to sing when you have a voice like that?"
The rest was a friendship and partnership that has developed over the past two years.
Bob took Nick to Nashville and suggested we go in "old school style", and play live with just a guitar. Bob had the contacts and Nick went to major publishers and songwriters, and knocked it out of the park!! While in Nashville, one of Wolf's friends played Nick a song that was written by legendary songwriter Tommy Barnes. Tommy, wrote "Indian Outlaw", "Don't take the girl", and too many other hits to mention.
Both Nick and Wolf literally had tears rolling down their faces. "Tommy wrote this song for Tim, and it was on his first album, but there were so many hits on it, it got overlooked. We are estatic to have this opportunity coming out of the shoot with a new artist." Wolf says,
"but I know this kid will nail it in the studio and live". "It was his biggest compliments we received in Nashville, and one that seems rare to hear anymore.the kid doesn't need protools.he hits the notes naturally."
Nick makes his second return to Nashville to live, and pursue his dream only now managed and represented by Bob and Survival Management llc, and hopes to make Post Falls and the Northwest proud.
"One of my hero's has been Garth Brooks, not only for his entertaining and musical abilities, but for the way he has always treated, and acknowledged his fans. I hope to follow in his footsteps in that manner most of all. What is an artist without fansa guy singin in the shower!! "
So here it begins, and the stars seem to be aligning. a hit song waiting to happen, and a young mans dream is on the rise.
We have plans on a release of Nick's first single, "When she wakes up, and finds me gone", written by Tommy Barnes, fall of 2013.
