Here is the second segment of our recent session with Strand of Oaks. After my first listen through to HEAL earlier this summer, “Shut In” was an immediate standout. In fact I just dug up the text I sent to Tim minutes after finishing my first pass:
Just got a first listen to HEAL in it’s entirety. Fucking WOW! Really took me on a ride. So far JM might be my favorite although there are many, many close 2nds. Shut In is a fucking hit. That climb/morph into the blistering gtr on Mirage Year is insane…Love that. Also love the synth tone on the beginning of Same Emotion. Sort of reminds me of VH- “I’ll Wait” (please take that as a compliment!!) and the use of saturation across the entire album… Very well done. You’ve made the album that my summer was looking for. Thank you! Would love to learn more about the process of making this record when you have time….
I was excited to get a chance to record this song. Tim and the band absolutely rocked this version. I’ll leave it at that.
