British Columbian music producer and composer Adham Shaikh recently released his first album of original music in five years, Basswalla. The gorgeous video for the title track is premiering today on CBC Music.
"Basswalla" blends Shaikh's love of synthesizers and electronic music with his South Asian musical roots into a groovy, trance-like, bass-heavy song.
Filmed at the Buddha Eden Garden in Portugal, the video's bright colours and crisp dancing evoke precisely what Shaikh says about the song. That it "sits squarely at the intersection of prayer and dancefloor."
