The Weeknd and Belly cancel Jimmy Kimmel performance over Trump

Canadian R&B star the Weeknd and hip-hop artist Belly cancelled their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, protesting the fact that U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump was also a guest on the show.

Toronto's the Weeknd, fresh off scooping eight awards at last weekend's Billboard Music Awards and Belly were set to perform "Might Not," a hit song from Belly's mixtape Up For Days. Ottawa, Ont.-based Belly issued a statement declaring his opposition to Trump's beliefs.

"I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world — from religion to race," Belly said in a statement to the Associated Press. "I just didn't want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that majority of us don't agree with."

Belly is scheduled to release a new mixtape entitled Another Day in Paradise later this week.
