Small town Ontario senior wows the web, gets big name kudos for street piano performance

Published: September 17, 2014

When Michael McNamara sat down on a roughly sawn log at a painted street piano on a sidewalk in Cobourg, Ontario, little did the senior know that his performance would be broadcast to hundreds of thousands around the globe and garner kudos from big name musicians.

But that's exactly what happened when McNamara, who spent years performing on cruise ships, sat down at "Foxgang Amadeus" a street piano painted by artist Katriona Dean and performed A Great Big World's hit "Say Something," as well as several other popular tracks.

Not only did the singer win raves from the locals, but Dean posted her video on YouTube she apologizes for the shakiness, saying she didn't have time to set up her tripod and so far is has garnered over 700,000 views, as well as high praise from A Great Big World, who shared the video on Facebook and wrote "We love this so much."

Stars from Ashton Kutcher to Glenn Beck are also sharing the video online, with Kutcher commenting, "There should be musical instruments just left all over the place for spontaneous jams."
