Check out our 100 best Canadian bands ever, with Arcade Fire at top spot.

He lives in one of the iconic music capitals of the United States, and writes songs about the red, white and blue truths of American culture with arresting honesty. But New Orleans-based indie music star Father John Misty is also something of a Canadian music fan, at least when it comes to the songs of one this country's biggest acts, Arcade Fire.

The Suburbs, from Arcade Fire's game-changing 2010 album of the same name, is a particular favourite of Father John's. Watch the video below to hear him talk about his relationship to the song, the band and its lead vocalist, Win Butler.

Now, hear Father John Misty perform his own version of "The Suburbs," recorded at an exclusive session for CBC Music at b.b gun leather, a small garage workshop nestled in a historic residential neighbourhood of East Vancouver.

If you are interested in seeing more exclusive Father John Misty videos shot at b.b. gun, check back on CBC Music on July 6. Four additional videos will be posted, including the title track from his latest release, I Love You, Honeybear.
