Galapaghost – “Jellyfish”

Published: April 23, 2019

Casey Chandler’s Galapaghost project again impresses with “Jellyfish,” where aquatic, twinkling synths combine with mellow vocals for a very pleasant listen. Whereas the project had a prior emphasis on more folk-leaning sounds, as evidenced in prior features, “Jellyfish” shows a firmer commitment to the electronic side of things, in the vein of Beck. The track comes via the project’s latest album, Sootie, and the video was directed by Alonso Lujan.

“Staying true to the inspiration of Casey’s song, that all familiar feeling of watching life pass you by, I wanted to encapsulate this emotion through a series of vignettes where we would explore both the contemplative beauty in the monotony of the drifting through daily life, and the chaotic energy of the dissatisfied mind,” Lujan says. His video does great in providing visual splendor for the track’s chilled-out, aquatic vibes.

“Jellyfish” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2019’ Spotify playlist.
