Being how substantial Instagram and social media has become in almost everyone’s day-to-day, it’s fairly common for an artist to blow up off the strength of a viral meme. The latest to experience this new come-up is Jackson, MS native and self-described hip-hop trumpeter Dear Silas, whose record “Skrr Skrr” has amassed much attention over the past few weeks after being heard in a recent Dexter’s Laboratory meme.
“Skrr Skrr” appeared on Silas’ latest album The Last Cherry Blossom, which released in October.
Listen after the jump…
In other news, Dear Silas just announced he’s signed to RCA Records.
So I’m having a sh** ton of anxiety right now & my emotions are all over the place. I don’t wanna ramble too much so I’m just gonna say I’m proud to announce that I’m extremely happy be apart of the @RCARecords @SonyMusicGlobal family! DREAMS COME TRUE! pic.twitter.com/09hUC5wvAw
