Teairra Mari & 3 Other Stars Who Have Been Victim Of Revenge Porn

Published: May 10, 2018

Teairra Mari is the latest celebrity victim of revenge porn.

On Tuesday the former Roc-A-Fella Records singer made headlines when explicit photos of her were posted onto her own Instagram account, which she claims was done by an ex-lover.

In the hours following the initial leaking of the sex tape and nude photos, Mari, who has starred as a part of VH1’sLove & Hip-Hop, used her Instagram account to issue a statement on the matter. In the post, she spotlights the fact that this particular leaking could constitute an act of revenge porn, which is, of course, illegal and she’s preparing to sue.

“Recently, my social media was compromised by someone I who I felt was deserving of my love and trust,” Mari wrote in the post. “That person proved to be untrustworthy and posted footage of what in the moment was private and sacred. Moving forward, I recognize the need to be more cautious and discerning. My hope is for women to remain strong and dignified when they find themselves having to address hateful and juvenile acts by former lovers who find it difficult to act in an adult manner. Revenge Porn is a crime in California and I will be in pursuit of justice.”

Sixteen states actually have laws outlawing the distribution of pornographic images and someone can be prosecuted even if the act isn’t “vengeance driven” as the term would suggest.

Here’s three other stars who have also been the victim of revenge porn, and in turn helped to championed women’s privacy rights.
