Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Weird Al Yankovics Mandatory Fun Becomes His First #1 Album

Published: July 23, 2014

Whatever magical potion of longevity “Weird Al” Yankovic bathes in (we’re referring to his career here, sickos), it’s certainly doing the trick. The curly-weaved pop comedian chucked out eight music videos for songs off his new LP Mandatory Fun over eight days starting last week, and the resultant payoff is the first chart-topping album of Yankovic’s 31-year music career.

In total, Mandatory Fun sold 104,000 copies in its first week out of the gate, i.e. double the amount of what last week’s chart-topping album, Sia‘s 1000 Forms Of Fear, moved a sure sign, music lovers, that the Alpocalypse is indeed nigh.

See where the rest of this week’s movers and shakers wound up in the upper tier of the Billboard 200 below.
