Iggy Azalea is really, really excited about collaborating with Britney Spears. She spilled the beans on Twitter last year and continued to hype the appropriately-titled “Pretty Girls” (due May 5) in interviews. The Aussie femcee even opened up about the looming summer smash on the red carpet at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. “You know it was such a journey, that song,” she told MTV.

“I got asked and it was her song. Then she didn’t think she would have her album done in time. I rewrote parts of it and it became my song, and I tried to make it all mine and keep it. Then she said, ‘No, no, I am going to take it, my album is ready’,” Iggy revealed. “And so I swung it back her way because she’s Britney Spears, you have to do that. She gets whatever she wants.”

The drawn-out process transformed the track from a Britney song featuring Iggy to a proper duet. “In turn, it’s kind of really evolved into something that I was just featured on originally, into really a true duet, where I’m on the chorus with her… she has her verses and I have my verse, but it’s not just me kind of popping in it. It really is a duet. And I love that.”

The 24-year-old then opened up about the (sure-to-be) blockbuster visual. “I’ve been texting her, annoying her with all my ideas for the video and she’s been a really good sport about it, so I’m really excited,” she revealed.

“Pretty Girls” could be the break Iggy needs to fully rehabilitate her image after months of controversy. After a slow start, her collaboration with Jennifer Hudson, “Trouble,” is shaping up to be a hit and a duet with Britney would take things to the next level.
