While you were sleeping, Gorillaz returned in a big, big way. The virtual band founded by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett not only dropped four (yes, four) new songs, they announced their new album title, release date, and insanely stacked tracklist.
Through a series of Instagram posts, the band revealed the album is to be titled Humanz, and that it’s set for an April 28 release date. The tracklist – 14 tracks for the normal version and additional five on the deluxe copy – contains at least one mammoth guest artist per track, including Vince Staples, Grace Jones, Kali Uchis, Anthony Hamilton, Mavis Staples and De La Soul – peep the full list below.
The announcement came with a whopping four new tracks: ‘Saturnz Barz’ ft. Popcaan, ‘Andromeda’ ft. D.R.A.M, ‘We Got The Power’ ft. Jehnny Beth (Savages) and ‘Ascension’ ft. Vince Staples. In a cleverly widespread manoeuvre, the band premiered the songs across BBC Radio 1, Radio X and Beats 1 respectively.

These four follow on from ‘Hallelujah Money’ featuring Benjamin Clementine, released back in January. The anti-Trump political track was their band’s first new music since 2012. Luckily we didn’t need to wait much longer for more.
The band are preparing to play the new album in full at a secret gig in London this weekend, but the rest of us will have to wait another month to hear their triumphant return.
