You’ll Never Guess Which Action Star Just Covered Selena Gomez

Published: February 21, 2017

Selena Gomez released her first piece of new music since 2015 last week with the high-energy Kygo-produced track “It Ain’t Me.” The pop star had been teasing the song for days, with the new EDM single working as a soaring stadium track, while still boasting soft moments of quietness. It’s a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. Now, it’s a little bit off key.

The song has found fans in millions of Selenators, with one very famous fan even recording his own version. Action star Vin Diesel is such a big fan of “It Ain’t Me” that he’s now covered the song, even receiving the blessing of Kygo, who maybe was worried the actor would go XXX on him if he said ‘no.’

We’ll admit, Diesel’s vocals on “It Ain’t Me” aren’t that bad. We don’t think he’s about to star in the next La La Land, but it seems like the Hollywood veteran has found his range on this track.

According to Diesel’s Instagram post, Kygo actually requested the action star duet with Gomez on “It Ain’t Me.” So, Kygo totally wants to be in the next Fast and the Furious movie, right?

This isn’t the first time Vin Diesel has shared a video of himself showing off his, um, musical chops. The actor has previously covered Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” and Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again,” which Diesel sang at the 2015 MTV Awards following the death of his friend and co-star, Paul Walker.

While Diesel does an admirable job covering “It Ain’t Me,” it still ain’t Selena. Check out the original version of “It Ain’t Me” featuring a solo Selena Gomez below. Vin Diesel’s The Fate Of The Furious hits theatres on April 14 (watch the trailer here).
