Which Stars Spit Some Serious Freestyle on Much?

Published: September 01, 2014

There seems to be something about Much that makes artists want to drop a few beats and get their freestyle-on. Maybe it’s our amazing audience, maybe it’s the bright lights, maybe it’s because we ask them on live TV. Whatever the reason, we love when performers drop some new (or borrowed) verses.

Big Sean

In 2002, some 14 year-old kid told the MOD audience that he ‘had the master plan’ when he showed off his freestyling skills. Turns out, he was right.

Ed Sheeran

How many English singer-songwriters do you know freestyle about being pale? We know one and he’s AWESOME.

Selena Gomez

After a video of her rapping Super Bass backstage at the MTV VMAs went viral, Selena Gomez indulged us and agreed to lead the New.Music.Live. audience in a rap-off. Gurl can spit some fire.

Joe Jonas

Joe Jonas and his brothers Nick and Kevin have appeared at Much numerous times over the years, from appearing on MOD and NML, to their Live @ Much specials, to even hosting the 2009 MMVAs. During these appearances there’s one thing that keeps coming up – Joe’s love for freestyling. Past topics have included Canada and Tim Hortons, naturally.

Karmin

Pop-rap duo Karmin broke onto the music scene with their cover of Busta Rhymes’ track Look At Me Now. The pair made their first appearance on Much in 2012 and gave host Lauren Toyota a lesson in the art of rapping.

Justin Bieber

While appearing New.Music.Live. to promote his film Never Say Never, VJ Phoebe Dykstra learned to play the drums with Justin Bieber freestyling to her new beat. That’s a pretty cool way to learn an instrument.
