The cast of Orphan Black attended Comic Con this past weekend and while they haven’t yet begun shooting Season 3, actors Tatiana Maslany, Jordan Gavaris, Dylan Bruce, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kristian Bruun, and Ari Millen were still able to shed some light on their characters and the storylines we may see next year.
As for parents of clones, while we’re all a bit confused as to why Cosima’s parents aren’t visiting their dying daughter, Alison’s mother may make an appearance, with Canadian actress Catherine O’Hara favourited for the role. There may also be a chance for a dead clone to be revisited in some way, with creators Graeme Mason and John Fawcett teasing a twist to Beth Child’s story that we don’t know. I always thought her subway death-jump was a bit suspicious.
Suits star Patrick J. Adams would love to make a second appearance as Helena’s beloved tow truck driver. I think we can all agree that would be AMAZING.
There were also some fun tidbits shared over the weekend, like the fact that the writers initially planned on killing off Mark in Episode 6 (no man clone?!), with Paul killing him in the bar where they find Helena. Additionally, it was also Paul who was supposed to kill Dr. Leekie, with the honour eventually going to Donnie.
Jordan Gavaris shared that he listens to Goldfrapp’s Strict Machine when getting into character to play Felix, and the real Cosima, whom the clone is based on, met with the cast when filming on Season 1 began. Tatiana Maslany said that she applies how she feels about art to the way the real Cosima talks about science.
One fan even brought up the controversy (aka DAYLIGHT ROBBERY) of Orphan Black being shut out of the Emmy’s, with Maslany responding “We’re at a point when television is extremely exciting. There are Oscar-winning actors leading TV series now. I feel very lucky being in the company of that.” Ugh, could she be any classier? Bow down.
The most touching moment of the Orphan Black crew’s time at Comic Con definitely came when a member of the Clone Club shared her struggle with coming out to her parents and how watching the show as a family has helped not only her parents understand what it means to be gay, but also herself. The video is definitely worth checking out.
