Things Get Creepy In BANKS’ New Video For ‘Trainwreck’

Published: January 20, 2017

BANKS

Alternative-pop singer BANKS has released a new music video for her track, “Trainwreck.”

The latest instalment in her string of dark visuals for her most recent album The Altar, the new video features freaky masked figures, outlandish bird crowns and 1950s inspired decor, all while BANKS watches herself on TV.

Directed by fashion filmmaker Marie Schuller, “Trainwreck” is equal parts haunting as it is mesmerizing. BANKS’ contemporary dance choreography and eye-catching imagery sends viewers into an uncanny world of dark and creepy glamour. Or, as BANKS calls it in her Instagram post, “venturing into the domesticated underground.”

Consider it a mini episode of American Horror Story: Hotel—it’s heavy on the Victorian, Edgar Allan Poe aesthetics. Plus, the catchiness of the song itself will make you want to watch the video over and over again.
