Pitch Perfect 3’s Barden Bellas Team Up With The Voice For New Music Video

Pitch Perfect 3, The Voice

The Voice may not be an a capella singing competition, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for the Barden Bellas to hit a few high notes. Ahead of Pitch Perfect 3’s December 22 release date, the Barden Bellas, including Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Chrissie Fit, Hana Mae Lee and Anna Camp joined the top 12 finalists of The Voice to perform a mash up worthy of a state championship.

The simple but slick music video has the same infectious energy fans have come to love from the sing offs in the Pitch Perfect films, combined with the added vocals of the top 12 contestants for Season 14 of The Voice. It’s pretty much a Gap ad, but as with all Gap ads, it’s set to great music.

The mash up, titled “Freedom! ’90 x Cups” pairs George Michael’s “Freedom” with the track “Cups,” which the Barden Bellas covered in the first Pitch Perfect film. The song has already received the music video treatment, with Anna Kendrick starring as a diner waitress ready to break out on her own in the “Cups (When I’m Gone)” 2013 video.

Pitch Perfect star and Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks premiered the video during Tuesday night’s episode of The Voice (watch every episode Monday and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV), which saw its first live elimination go to Team Adam’s Jon Mero. Well, at least he got to be in a music video.

The third and final installment in the Pitch Perfect franchise hits theatres on December 22 and has the Barden Bellas living post-college and trying to find their way back to music. Their route this time around is to join a USO tour, where they’ll be sharing the stage with bands. With instruments. And amps. Aca-terrifying.
