Paramore Return With New Album And Video For ‘Hard Times’

Published: April 20, 2017

Paramore fans can finally breathe a collective sigh of relief. After the exit of founding band members and lengthy breaks between albums, Paramore have returned with not only a new album announcement, but a brand new single and video.

“Hard Times” is the lead single from the trio’s upcoming fifth studio album, After The Laughter. The new album, which drops May 12, comes four years after Hayley Williams, Jeremy Davis and Taylor York released the band’s self-titled album, their first following the departure of founding members Josh and Zac Farro. Even with the huge success of 2013’s Paramore, including a Grammy win for the single “Ain’t It Fun,” the fate of the band still seemed uncertain, with Davis departing in 2015.

Now with the announcement of After The Laughter and the most recent line-up update, including Williams, York and the return of Zac Farro, fans of the pop punk group can finally get ready to rock once more.

The appropriately titled “Hard Times” is a welcomed breath of fresh air following Paramore’s overdue absence on the charts, with the band playing with steel drums and ’80’s techno beats that are matched with the video’s playful Weird Science aesthetic. Infusing bright pops of colour to their retro set, “Hard Times” looks like a mash up between Miami Vice and the board game Girl Talk.

Paramore announced their new single and disc this week, which in addition to “Hard Times” includes 11 tracks. The band has also announced a slew of concert dates, which kick off in Ireland on June 15 and take Paramore through the UK and Europe before returning to the U.S. in September for the newly announced Riot Fest.

Welcome back, Paramore. We missed you.
