Though The Shannara Chronicles isn’t premiering until the new year, MTV has given us our first look at the main players in the upcoming fantasy series and it looks AMAZING.
The Shannara Chronicles is based on the best-selling book series by Terry Brooks—who also acts as an executive producer—and takes place in an a post-apocalyptic world. The series follows Elvin princess Amberle, Eretria, a human, and half-human/half-elf hero Wil Ohmsford as they try to save the world from demons who are trying to destroy it.
Meet five of the actors starring in the series in the teasers below!
Amberle
A princess who is the “apple of everyone’s eye” has to learn, for the first time in her life, to do things by herself. At the young age of 18, the fate of the world rests on her shoulders.
Wil
After losing his mother, Wil, played by Austin Butler embarks on a quest that leads him on a very different path than he intended. He teams up with Amberle and Eretria and together, the three must save the world from destruction.
Eretria
Portrayed by Ivana Baquero, Eretria is a born warrior with a dark past. Throughout the series, she must fight to prove herself to her people while also fighting for her freedom.
King Eventine
Played by John Rhys-Davies, King Eventine is the ruler of the earth, now known as the the Four Lands. He’s caught between doing right and wrong by his kingdom and is torn between his two sons in line to take his place as the new king.
Allanon
The brute of the group, Allanon, played by Manu Bennett, leads and protects the young elves trying to save humanity. He’s got a chip on his shoulder, but is struggling to see the good in the world and in himself.
The Shannara Chronicles premieres on MTV on January 5.
