Common, Mary J Blige, Oscars, Academy Awards

The 2018 Academy Awards have just announced their line up for musical performers and in addition to being the biggest night in film, it’s now shaping up to be one of the biggest nights in music.

Thanks to an incredible mix of Best Original Song nominees, this year’s line up of performers represents a diverse mix of genres and artists taking the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 4.

Just announced today, Mary J. Blige, Common and Andra Day, Sufjan Stevens, Gael Garcia Bernal with Natalia Lafourcade and Miguel, as well as Keala Settle will all perform at the 2018 Academy Awards.

Mystery of Love

If your heart wasn’t already broken from Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name, Sufjan Stevens’ incredible soundtrack, including his nominated original song “Mystery of Love” likely finished you off.

Mighty River

Mary J. Blige is not only nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her quietly moving role as a mother to an army veteran in Mudbound, but the nine-time Grammy winner is also nominated for Best Original Song for “Mighty River.”

This Is Me

Actor and singer Keala Settle, who played bearded lady Lettie Lutz in last year’s musical The Greatest Showman, will also perform her nominated song “This Is Me.”

Remember Me

Golden Globe winning actor Gael Garcia Bernal will be showing off his singing talents at this year’s Oscars, where he’ll be joined on stage by Grammy winners Miguel and Natalia Lafourcade for “Remember Me” from the animated film Coco.

Stand Up For Something

Back in 2015, Common shared the Academy Awards stage with John Legend for a performance of “Glory” from the film Selma, with the pair wining the Oscar that year for Best Original Song. Common will be back again this year performing “Stand Up For Something” with Andra Day from the film Marshall.

The 2018 Academy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and air on CTV on Sunday, March 4.
