There are thousands of songs about the power of love, the magic of finding the ‘one,’ and the life changing feeling of euphoria that comes with spending time with your soul mate. Snakehips and MØ’s new song “Don’t Leave” is not about these feelings.

Danish singer MØ has made a name for herself both via solo tracks “Final Song” and “Drum,” as well as duets alongside Major Lazer with “Lean On” and “Cold Water,” and Iggy Azalea’s “Beg For It.” Now it looks like MØ is adding yet another chart topping collab to her resume with English duo Snakehips on “Don’t Leave.”

As for Snakehips, the duo, made up of Oliver Lee and James Carter, are no strangers to hit collaborations. The group broke into the music scene in 2015 with Tinashe and Chance the Rapper on “All My Friends” and more recently hit the studio with Zayn Malik for “Cruel” in 2016.

The single from Snakehips and MØ was released earlier this month, with the new video and its message of heartbreak arriving this week. MØ stars in the video for “Don’t Leave,” playing a woman desperate to keep her boyfriend, who eventually leaves her for a new relationship.

MØ’s pain is visceral in the video, which flashes back and forth between happy times with the couple to a heartbroken MØ who must now see her former love with someone new. It’s a harsh reminder that while love can be great, it can also really, really suck.

“Don’t Leave” was released on Snakehips YouTube page, while MØ is planning on dropping her sophomore album sometime in 2017.
